How to fit your Number Plates

A Step-by-Step Guide on How to Install Your Number Plates

Discover how to install new license plates on your own to save both time and money using this manual.

Supplies Required

Prepare the specified tools and materials before beginning.

  • New number plates/frames (available on our website)

  • Screwdriver/drill

  • Screws (supplied free of charge with any set of plates)

  • Double-sided adhesive pads (supplied free of charge with any set of plates)

Step 1: Remove the Old Plates

  1. Take off adhesive pads: If adhesive pads were applied, gently remove the old plates. In case there is a significant amount of leftover tape on the car, you may require an adhesive remover. However, usually, the new plate will cover this, so there is no need to be excessive in trying to eliminate all of it!

Step 2: Get the New Plates Ready

  1. Take the plates out of the packaging and double check the reg numbers are matching and correct.

Step 3: Attach the Plates

Using Screws

  1. Position the plate: Hold the new number plate in place on the car. Ensure it is aligned correctly, central & level.

  2. Screw in place: Fasten the plate directly by screwing through it (avoiding the 3D/4D digit) with our self-tapping screws. No pre-drilling is necessary; applying gentle pressure will suffice to penetrate the plates and secure them to the car. Secure the caps, and the installation process is finished.

Using Adhesive Pads

  1. Attach the pads: If you don't want to drill, you can opt for double-sided adhesive pads. Attach several pads evenly on the back of the new number plate.

  2. Prepare the surface: For a secure attachment, clean the area where you intend to affix the number plate with warm soapy water and then dry it.

  3. Align and apply pressure: Position the number plate on the car, then apply firm pressure to ensure the adhesive pads adhere properly.

Installing Number Plate Frames/Holders

  1. Position the frame against the car: You may utilize the pre-existing holes on the rear of the car to align the symmetrical screw holes and fasten them securely. For the front, it is advisable to create new holes on the plastic bumper to ensure a secure attachment of the number plate and holder.

  2. Mount the plate onto the frame backing: Gently flex the number plate to fit it into the backing holder, ensuring that each end is tucked in. Slide the plate upwards under the top lip to secure it in place.

  3. Attach the holder strip: Flex the holder strip slightly at both ends and snap it into position within the frame.

Step 4: Final Checks

  1. Verify alignment: Make sure the number plates are properly aligned and centered.

  2. Fasten securely: Confirm that the number plates/frames are firmly fixed in place and do not wobble or produce noise.

Extra Suggestions

Regular upkeep: Periodically inspect the plates to confirm they are still firmly attached and visible. Keep them clean on a regular basis to uphold their clarity.

Summary

Mounting your number plates is a simple task that only requires basic tools and materials. By adhering to these instructions, you can guarantee that your plates are securely fixed, correctly positioned, and compliant with regulations. Whether you opt for screws, adhesive pads, or plate frames, the crucial aspect is thorough preparation and accurate implementation. Enjoy your drive!
