In the Republic of Ireland, the legalities surrounding 3D and 4D number plates are black and white, here are the guidelines:
Material and Font: The font must be legible black sans serif characters, no more than 70mm high and 36mm wide with a stroke width of 10mm, on a white reflective background material.
Visibility: Plates must be clearly visible from a distance. Any embellishments, including 3D or 4D effects, must not obstruct the legibility of the characters. The max depth of the letters or numbers is 3mm.
Registration: The plates must display the correct registration number as assigned by the relevant authorities. It must have the County name and dash (-) included with a Blue Irl badge with the EU stars.
